Welcome to Nuanced Views LLC! Thank you for the opportunity to share my passion for photography.  From fine art and travel images to portraits and wedding imagery, I am dedicated to creating timeless images that reflect technical excellence, sophisticated artistry, and something more elusive - the authentic magic and emotion of each moment.

In an era where practically everyone has some kind of camera, and countless pictures continually arise and dissolve over social media, Nuanced Views images stand apart.  I strive to make high quality images that will endure in the real world -- displayed on walls, in prints given to family, in cards shared among friends, and in other tangible forms -- long after the smart phone is turned off and casual snapshots have been forgotten. 

I have studied and trained extensively with photographers across the country, including at the International Center of Photography in New York, the highly regarded Photography Department of Northern Virginia Community College, and with several preeminent portrait, wedding, and fine art photographers.  My first darkroom course was some 20 years ago (though I perhaps should deny it's been that long!), and ever since I've practiced honing my eye and deepening my appreciation for the aesthetic principles, technical demands, and historical context of photography.  The digital world has opened up the ability to finally achieve visions that couldn't be achieved before and has drawn me back to my passion.  

Following a long-time dream, I founded Nuanced Views in 2011, choosing the name because it reflects the careful attention to subtle detail I pour into each photograph, and because it suggests the range of perspectives each person brings to an image.  It also has a second layer of meaning for me, having lived in the Washington, DC area as a practicing attorney for many years, because of all the "nuanced views" people hold on political issues.  While my path to professional photography was less than direct, I feel blessed that my legal training enables me to bring a logical and disciplined approach to my work, and that as a registered yoga teacher (RYT200) I also bring calming and joyful energy to each project.  Clients also benefit from my investment in the finest professional-level digital imaging equipment and software, as well as training in industry-standard editing and retouching techniques.  I enjoy sharing and selling my fine art images at local galleries and studios (juried and unjuried shows) and am honored whenever I hear feedback from someone who has decided to make a piece a part of their home.  Nuanced Views became Nuanced Views LLC in 2014.
